Johnson County consumer confidence falls in June - Kansas City Business Journal:

CERI uses the same methodologyh does for itsmonthly survey. For the nation, The Conferenc Board Consumer Confidence Index fellto 49.3 in June from 54.8 in May and 51 in June 2008. The index number is relative to 100 for the 1985 base year and is calculateds from the Consumer Confidence which The Conference Board bases on a representativd sampleof 5,000 U.S. households.
“After back-to-backj months of strong gains, consumer confidence retreatedin June,” Lynn Franco, directoe of , said in a Tuesday “The decline in the Present Situatioh Index, caused by a less favorable assessment of businesd conditions and employment, continuess to imply that economic conditions, while not as weak as earlie r this year, are nonetheless weak. Looking ahead, expectationsa continue to suggest less negativs conditions in themonths ahead, as opposed to strong growth.” The Presenft Situation Index fell to 24.8 in June from 29.7 in May. The Expectationss Index decreasedto 65.5 in June from 71.5 in May.
