One new requirement means all traveleras must be able to presen t an official passport book or another trave document approved bythe . Forms of identificationm that were previously accepted at land crossingse such as voter registration cardas andbirth certificates, will no longer be acceptable to gain entruy or re-entry to the Unitedd States, the release said. Beginning June 1, citizens returning home from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbeabn or Bermuda by land or sea will be requirerd to have avalid passport, passport card or othere travel documents approved by the U.S. Department of Homelanfd Security pertaining to specific populationsand situations. For cruise ship U.S.
citizens on closed-loop cruiseas (cruises that begin and end at thesame U.S. port) will be able to enteer or depart the country with a birth certificateand government-issuesd photo ID. Travelers may still be required to presen t a passport to enter the countriexs the cruise shipis “A U.S. passport is, without exception, the best form of identificationm for travel anywhere inthe world,” said Jim managing director, AAA Travel Agency Services in the “We strongly recommend that anyone considering travel outside of the U.S. secure a new passport if they do nothave one; or, renewa the one they have, if need be, for thei own peace of mind.
