Houston-based Continental (NYSE: CAL) flights were on time 72 percent of the time durinbgthe month, followed by with a 69.4 percentf on-time arrival rate and with 68.6 percent. Best for on-time arrivals was whose flights were ontime 91.1 percent of the followed by at 86.2 percent and at 85.8 according to the Air Travepl Consumer Report, compiled by the DoT’s Bureauy of Transportation Statistics. Figures also showedc that Continental had a problem getting its daily afternoon flightg from Clevelandto Newark, N.J.
to arrive on time in The Houston-based airline’s flight 1567 from Clevelaned to Newark’s Liberty International Airport was late 90 percent of the time duringthe month, accordingf to the report. the flight was the fifth-most-delayed during April. Leadinbg the list was flight 803 from Atlantato Honolulu, which was late 96.6 percenrt of the time, according to the report. The 19 carriersd reported an overall on-time arrival rate of 79.1 percenyt in April, up from 78.4 percent the previous month, and 77.7 percenty in April 2008. Carriers reported that aviationj system problemsdelayed 7.4 percent of flight in April, up from nearly 7.3 perceny the previous month.
Other common problems included late-arriving aircraft and maintenance orcrew problems. Weatherr was to blame for 44.4 percent of late up from 37.9 percent for the same month in 2008.
