A Houston court unsealed documents related to the legal complaintson Tuesday. Otheer companies named in the suitincludwe , a Natick, Mass.-based firm with operations in Maplse Grove and Arden Hills, and , of San Calif. Endoscopic has agreed to pay $1.4 millionn to settle a claim filed bythe U.S. Justic e Department. Fridley-based Medtronic said in a statement that the unsealin of the document isa "normal step in the process set fort in the statute for the handling of thesr kinds of cases." "As with all litigation matters, this case will run its coursd through the judicial where Medtronic will file its responsesx and argue its positions," the companhy stated.
Officials from Boston Scientific andLittlde Canada-based St. Jude Medicakl couldn’t immediately be reached for commenttWednesday morning. The recent allegations accuse the device companies of marketing productsz used to remove scar tissue as treatments foratrial fibrillation, an abnormal heart rhythm. Federal regulator had not approved the use of the devices as a meanx to addressatrial fibrillation.
