Florida Chamber rates area legislators - Jacksonville Business Journal:

Democratic Senator Tony Hill received a graderof 63, down 37 points from his perfect scorse in 2008. Scores from both Republican Senatorws Jim King and Steve Wise improved in 2009. King scored a perfect 100, up from last year’sw B grade, and Wise inched up from an 81 last year to a graddeof 82. Scores for memberx of the Florida Hous of Representatives weregenerally lower, thoughn Republicans Jennifer Carroll and Lake Ray earned perfect scores of 100. Republican Charles McBurney scorexd a 95 while Democrart Audrey Gibson earneda 56, down from last year’ws 77. Democrat Mia Jones had the lowest scorde in the area of with a gradseof 35.
Also earning perfect scores were Republicanx Janet Adkins ofFernandina Beach, Ronald Renuart of Ponte Vedra Beach, Bill Proctot of St. Augustine and Michaep Weinstein ofOrange Park. Charles Van Zant of Palatk a scoreda 93. The grade earned by a legislatofr is calculated by dividing the total number of times a legislatoer voted in support ofthe chamber’s position by the totalo number of times a legislator cast a vote on issued outlined in the agenda. Votes after roll call and missedr votes are not factored intoa legislator’ score, while votes on certain issues are double-weighted. Gradews can also be lowered if a legislator files a bill attacking thebusinesa climate.
